EL AEROPUERTO

La Romana International Airport is strategically located in the heart of the Dominican Republic’s eastern region, offering swift access to the country’s premier tourist destinations. Within less than an hour by highway, travelers can reach La Romana, Bayahibe, Punta Cana, Bávaro, Uvero Alto, Juan Dolio, and Boca Chica, some of the most sought-after vacation spots in the Caribbean.

Inaugurated on December 14, 2000, following an investment exceeding $100 million, the airport’s terminals feature architecture inspired by a traditional tropical sugar mill, a tribute to the area’s cultural and historical heritage. The facility includes a single runway and two terminals, each with its own dedicated ramp. The commercial terminal’s ramp, designed for airline operations, can accommodate up to eight wide-body aircraft simultaneously, ensuring efficient and timely handling. The general aviation terminal is reserved exclusively for private aircraft, offering tailored services for general aviation operations.

Operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, the airport offers a comprehensive range of services to ensure a seamless experience for both passengers and airline partners. These include real-time weather updates, aircraft fueling, ramp handling, passenger services, catering, and a dedicated team trained for large-scale rescue and firefighting operations.

To further enhance the travel experience, the terminal features duty-free shopping, retail stores, and a selection of food and beverage outlets offering both local and international alternatives. Whether travelers are looking to enjoy a quick snack, sit down for a meal, or pick up last-minute gifts and essentials, the airport’s amenities are designed to meet every need.

The airport is operated and managed by Airport Management Services, Ltd., a subsidiary of Central Romana Corporation, Ltd., a pioneer in Dominican tourism and the driving force behind the renowned Casa de Campo Resort & Villas. Notably, La Romana International Airport is the only airport in the region offering a direct link between air travel and cruise operations, thanks to its modern terminal at the (?) La Romana Cruise Port. This integrated air-sea connection delivers unmatched convenience for travelers seeking a seamless cruise vacation experience.
